Preserve a historic building

Rehabilitation tax credits and preservation grants offset the cost of restoring a historic structure.

How THC can help

Historic Tax Credits

Federal (SHPO)

Federal and state rehabilitation tax credits offset the cost of restoring income-producing historic buildings listed on the National Register.

What you need

A National Register listing (or eligibility), a rehabilitation plan meeting the Secretary's Standards, and an income-producing use.

Next steps

Submit a Part 1 application to the SHPO, then to the NPS for the federal credit. The state credit follows the same review.

What you need

A project scope, a qualified applicant (CLG, nonprofit, or agency), and a budget.
