FROM BRONZE PLAQUE INSIDE COURTHOUSE. " THE FIRST COURTHOUSE, A WOODEN BUILDING ERECTED ABOUT 1810 ON THE NORTH WEST CORNER OF THE SQUARE, WAS REPLACED A FEW YEARS LATER BY A BRICK BUILDING ON THIS SITE, AND IT WAS DESTROYED BY A TORNADO IN 1830.
